Miss Spiros's Bio
I was born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago

I'm the oldest of three sisters

I've been a teacher at Oak Lawn-Hometown since 1996

In my spare time I love to travel and keep myself healthy by eating right and working out

My Philosophy of Teaching and Learning

My obligation as a teacher is to instill in my students a life-long love of learning, the importance of respect for other people, and the social skills to become productive citizens in our society.
I recognize the importance of creating a learning environment where students not only feel safe, but also self-confident enough to contribute through asking questions, sharing, and reflecting.
I believe all students can learn and want to learn if they are provided with the motivation to try, the opportunity to experiment, the desire to succeed, the courage to fail, and the encouragement to try again.

" I am indebted to my father for living,
but to my teacher for living well."
~Alexander the Great~

Classroom Updates

Reading aloud to your child is one of the most important things you can do to help your child succeed in school, as well as helping them to become life-long readers

 I highly recommend all parents
to read  The New Read-Aloud Handbook by Jim Trelease.
