Hi!  My name is Mrs. Barry.  I'm in my 5th year of experience in tech support and as a technology assistant, and am in my 2nd year with District 123.  I find it very rewarding working with students, and love their reactions when they realize the skills they have mastered with regard to technology.  The teachers and staff here are just great. It's fun working with them and brainstorming to come up with ideas for integrating technology and engaged learning projects into their lessons.  I am also really looking forward to the completion of the new Middle School.  What an exciting time it is to be in this district!

My previous work experience includes 18 years as an Administrative Assistant and Corporate Meeting Planner.  I am married and have two daughters; one is a sophmore in high school, and the other is in 7th grade.  I have earned my Education Paraprofessional Certification from the State of Illinois, am Microsoft MOUS certified, and have recently completed the Web Design and Desktop Publishing programs from Moraine Valley Community College.  Some of my favorite things to do (in my spare time!) are gardening, scrapbooking, physical fitness & working out, photography & working on images with Adobe products, and maintaining the web site for my older daughter's traveling softball team.   A new recent interest is taking and editing digital video and creating DVD movies. I've undertaken the enormous job of importing, editing, and transferring all of my family's VHS tapes and old photos to create a DVD movie-this project will probably take me over a year! My kids are involved in a lot of sports, so we spend tons of time attending practices, tournaments and meets.

We've just successfully finished our first semester Advisory recycling contest (inkjet and laser toner cartridges, as well as cell phones and accessories).  Click this link to find out which classes were the big winners!   Recycling Contest  Be sure to continue to save your recyclables at home and bring them to school for the current recycling contest! If you prefer, prepaid mailing pouches are available for you to mail inkjets for reycling, and OLHMS will still get credit for them. Just send me an email (click the link below) and we'll be sure to get some to you!
