PTA/PTSA/PTO Council
Message from the President
WELCOME TO ANOTHER SCHOOL YEAR! It seems like just yesterday we were saying good-bye to our teachers for the summer. I hope that you all had a GREAT break and that you are geared up for another busy year within your school’s parent-teacher groups and the District 123 Council. These groups spend a lot of time to plan fun, educational, and entertaining events for your children throughout the school year.
Without parent volunteers, these programs wouldn’t be possible. Additionally, without your financial support, there will have to be cutbacks. Won’t you consider joining today? Just because you join your local PTA/PTO, it doesn’t mean you have to attend a meeting, or plan an event, it shows you are in support of what your organization does. Don’t get me wrong, I know your local parent groups would love to see you get involved, a few people can’t do all the work. Trust me, it puts a smile on your children’s face when they see you up at school. Now who doesn’t love to see their little ones smile? No matter how much time you can give, you will make a difference.
The objectives of the Illinois PTA, in common with the purposes of National PTA are:
- To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
- To raise the standards of home life.
- To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
- To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
- To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
Within this calendar you will see your school’s monthly meeting dates, as well as dates for our Council meetings. Meetings are open to everybody; however, to vote on a matter, you must be a member of your local organization. These meetings are great to hear what’s going on at your school, within the district and what the PTA is planning.
Your school’s presidents are always ready to answer your questions, or you can contact me. I will do my best to answer to the best of my ability if it has something to do with what’s going on in the district. Don’t forget, compliments are always welcome to your officers as well.
Once again, please show your support and join your local PTA, PTO, or PTSA today. Have a great year and I hope to see you around!
Lisa Bulger
