A SYNOPSIS OF WHAT HAPPENED AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT 123 BOARD OF EDUCATION.

The closed session convened at 6:45 p.m. The open meeting was held at the Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School (OLHMS) Cafetorium and called to order at 7:38 p.m.

Special Presentation - District 123 Literacy Curriculum Document

Susan Haddick presented a powerpoint overview of the District 123 Literacy Framework and recognized the following members of the Literacy Summer Curriculum Task Force: Linda Bond, Jeorgine Eklin, Laura Ferrell, Lori Gloodt, Kathleen Gorman, Gerry Krull, Kathleen Mahoney, Susan Marcinkowski, Jane McCormick, Jodie O’Shea, Ann Rooney, Jean Roth, Anna Schultz, and Heidi Teichert-Divizio.

Special Presentation - Administrative Recommendations for Programmatic Changes for 2007-2008

Kathleen McCord reviewed a powerpoint presentation regarding the administration's recommendations for programmatic changes for 2007-2008.

The presentation included an overview of the 2002-2003 successful referendum efforts, our current programming offerings, and implications for the district's financial future given the recently developed five-year financial forecast.

With input from the Financial Advisory Committee, the administration is recommending a budget reduction target of $1 M for the 2007-2008 school year and striving to delay the need for another referendum until absolutely necessary. If program reductions are not made, the district will be facing a deficit of $7.5 M by 2011.
