A SYNOPSIS OF WHAT HAPPENED AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT 123 BOARD OF EDUCATION.
The closed session convened at 6:30 p.m. The open meeting was held at the Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School (OLHMS) Cafetorium and called to order at 7:40 p.m.
Special Presentation -
Administrative Recommendations for Program Changes and Budget Reductions for 2007-2008
Kathleen McCord presented the administration's recommendations for program changes and budget reductions for 2007-2008.
The administration is recommending a budget reduction target of $1.1 M for the 2007-2008 school year. Mrs. McCord presented base model charts of projected year-end balances thru 2012 that reflected the “before” and “after” scenarios of the $1.1 M budget reduction.
She reviewed the district’s current situation, including student demographics, implications of the tax caps, input from the financial advisory committee, and a line item summary of the recommended reductions and program redesigns for 2007-2008.

THE BOARD TOOK THE FOLLOWING ACTION:
- Approved the minutes of January 22, 2007
- Approved the closed session minutes of January 22, 2007
- Approved retirements

- Approved resignations of Jane Harrell, Ann Klioris, Mary Roth, and Bonnie Stanley, effective June, 2007
- Adopted resolution for dismissal and nonrenewal of first, second, and third year probationary or part-time teachers
- Adopted resolution for honorable dismissal of educational support personnel
- Failed - motion to adopt a resolution for dismissal of fourth year probationary teacher
- Adopted resolution for the IMRF Early Retirement Incentive for the period June 30, 2007 to June 30, 2008
- Approved the IMRF Retirement Eligible District Incentive for the period June 30, 2007 to December 31, 2008
- Approved employment of Ann Marie McGovern as Hannum Principal for the 2007-2008 school year
- Approved the 2007-2008 School Calendar
- Approved IASB School Board Policies Online
- Tabled - action on the Hannum roof replacement bid tabled until the March 20 th board meeting
- Approved the list of bills as presented, the Fund Reconciliation Report, the summary financial reports, and the payroll in the amount of $2,499,135.82
The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
