A SYNOPSIS OF WHAT HAPPENED AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT 123 BOARD OF EDUCATION.

The closed session convened at 6:30 p.m. The open meeting was held at the Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School (OLHMS) Cafetorium and called to order at 7:40 p.m.

Special Presentation - Administrative Recommendations for Program Changes and Budget Reductions for 2007-2008

Kathleen McCord presented the administration's recommendations for program changes and budget reductions for 2007-2008.

The administration is recommending a budget reduction target of $1.1 M for the 2007-2008 school year. Mrs. McCord presented base model charts of projected year-end balances thru 2012 that reflected the “before” and “after” scenarios of the $1.1 M budget reduction.

She reviewed the district’s current situation, including student demographics, implications of the tax caps, input from the financial advisory committee, and a line item summary of the recommended reductions and program redesigns for 2007-2008.
