A SYNOPSIS OF WHAT HAPPENED AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT 123 BOARD OF
EDUCATION.
Open session was held in the Training Center and
called to order at 7:30 p.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was said.
Special Presentation - Standards-based Math
Update
Recommendation for Curriculum Adoption
Lori Gloodt & Sheila Lettiere
Mrs. Gloodt and Mrs. Lettiere provided additional
information about the proposed standards-based math curriculum. Their
recommendation for the 2003-2004 school year for K-6 was the series
developed through the University of Chicago School Mathematics
Project (UCSMP) entitled Everyday Mathematics.

High School - a good time was had by all. Mr. Archibald McKinlay,
author of The Oak Lawn Story , conducted a book signing at the Fun
Fair. Mr. Kolb provided a tentative cost analysis and indicated
that a net total of $1,095 had been raised. (iMovie was
presented)

THE BOARD TOOK THE FOLLOWING
ACTION:
- Approved the minutes of January 21,
2003
- Approved the employment of certified
staff, 2002-2003, Erin Muldoon, 3rd grade teacher at Sward
School
- Approved the employment of educational
support personnel, 2002-2003, Gabriella Amato, PTP instructional
assistant at Hometown School
- Approved extension of parental leave,
2003-2004, for Erin Mahoney, teacher at McGugan Junior High
School
- Adopted the K-6 Standards-based Math
Curriculum for the 2003-2004 school year, entitled Everyday
Mathematics
- Approved the list of bills as
presented, the Fund Reconciliation Report, the summary financial
reports, and the payroll in the amount of 1,785,795.14
- The meeting adjourned at 9:30 p.m.

Education will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2003 at
the Administration Center, 4201 West 93rd Street, Oak Lawn,
Illinois.
