A SYNOPSIS OF WHAT HAPPENED AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT 123 BOARD OF EDUCATION.
 
The closed session convened at 6:30 p.m. Open session was held in the Training Center and called to order at 7:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was said.
Special Presentation - Partnership for a Safe and Drug Free Community

Representatives from the Partnership, including Sergeant Joe Stubbs and Officer Jim Pacetti from the Oak Lawn Police Department, outlined the program and provided an historical perspective. The Partnership is a not-for-profit community organization dedicated to the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, drug use, and violence by our youth.

Special Presentation - School District 123 Mentor-Mentee Program

Martha Sydanmaa and Marla Campas presented an overview of the #123 Mentoring program which aides in the professional growth of new teachers.

• Approved the resignations of Kristin Berg - aide, Kathleen Cheverud - psychologist, Carolyn Heredia - lunch supervisor, and Theresa Liva - aide
• Approved the employment of the following 20 certified staff, 2003-04:

• Approved the AERO FY04 budget
• Approved the list of bills as presented, the Fund Reconciliation Report, the summary financial reports, and the payroll in the amount of $2,887,926.19
 
The meeting adjourned at 10:25 p.m.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Education will be held on Monday, September 22, 2003, at the Administration Center, 4201 West 93rd Street, Oak Lawn, Illinois.
