A SYNOPSIS OF WHAT HAPPENED AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT 123 BOARD OF EDUCATION.

The closed session convened at 6:45 p.m. Open session was held in the Training Center and called to order at 7:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

2003 Tax Levy - Mr. Robert Kolb outlined the 2003 Tax Levy.

A Public Hearing of the 2003 Tax Levy was conducted.

THE BOARD HEARD FROM THE ADMINISTRATION REGARDING:

• Buildings and Grounds report
• Construction update
• Date options for Budget meeting: Mon. 1/12/04, Thurs. 1/15/04, or
Thurs. 1/22/04
• "Flu" Letter to Parents
• No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and Students with Disabilities
• Parent/Teacher Conference Update --McGugan
• School Winter Programs
• Band Department Memo-- Need for "quality" instruments
• District Choral Festival Update --March 25, 2004 -- at Covington School
• District 135's invitation to attend middle school articulation meeting
• Mrs. Martha Sydanmaa and Mrs. Marla Campas will be presenters at the Illinois No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Conference --February 4, 2004

THE BOARD TOOK THE FOLLOWING ACTION:

• Approved the minutes of November 24, 2003
• Approved employment of educational support personnel, 2003-04
Schlieske, Jason - Instructional Assistant in the Blended Early Childhood program at Kolmar School, effective 12/15/03
• Accepted the 2002-2003 Audit, Single Audit, and Management Letter
• Adopted the 2003 Certificate of Tax Levy in the amount of $21,819,600
• Adopted Tax Levy Resolution, 2003 - Working Cash Fund
• Adopted Tax Levy Resolution, 2003 - Fire Prevention and Safety Purposes
• Approved Certificate of Compliance with the Truth in Taxation Act
• Adopted Resolution Allocating Tax Levy to Individual Funds of the District-Property Tax Extension Limitation Law
• Approved the list of bills as presented, the Fund Reconciliation Report, the summary financial reports, and the payroll in the amount of $1,967,230.35

The meeting adjourned at 9:05 p.m.

The next regular meeting of the Board of Education will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at the Administration Center, 4201 West 93rd Street, Oak Lawn, Illinois.
