A SYNOPSIS OF WHAT HAPPENED AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT 123 BOARD OF EDUCATION.

The closed session convened at 7:15 p.m. Open session was held in the Training Center and called to order at 7:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

Special Presentation - Food Service FY 05/06
                                         Jack Bortko, Arbor Management, Inc.

Jack Bortko gave an overview of what Arbor Management food service could provide for our students for 2005-06 school year to meet the Federal Pattern Meal requirements, with a focus on nutrition. Faculty and staff lunch menus are available as well as catering services.

Special Presentation - Sward School Improvement Plan
                                          Lori Gloodt, Principal

Lori Gloodt presented a comprehensive School Improvement Plan for Sward School for the 2004-2005 school year. The report included information, such as demographics, enrollment, mobility rates, state assessment, and local assessment data.

Special Presentation - Synergistic Systems Integrated Technology Program
                                         Andrea Anderson, McGugan Principal

Andrea Anderson explained the module based multimedia curriculum that will be introduced to students in grades 6-7-8 when the new Middle School opens its doors in the fall of 2005. Each module integrates elements of math, science, technology, and language arts and is designed to be completed by two students working together.

• School Calendar 2005-2006 (initial proposal) - henceforth, Dist. 123's goal will be to always set spring break for the last week in March
• Staffing Plan Process for 2005-2006
• Opportunity for staff input regarding career path
• Readers' Cafe at McGugan Jr. High School
• FOIA request regarding landscaping contracts
• Posted openings for assistant superintendent, assistant principal, and principal
• Error in the 12/9/04 edition of the Chicago Tribune incorrectly identifying Dist. 123 as one of 11 districts failing to make AYP regarding No Child Left Behind
• United Way ($1,723)/Educational Foundation ($1,941) annual campaign report The Board conducted a public hearing of the 2004 Tax Levy.

THE BOARD TOOK THE FOLLOWING ACTION:

• Approved the minutes of November 22, 2004
• Approved resignation of Erin Logue and Lindsey Brazas
• Approved and extended personal leave for Irene Spiros, 2005-2006
• Approved the Food Service Management bid from Arbor Management, Inc.
• Adopted 2004 Certificate of Tax Levy
• Adopted Tax Levy Resolution, 2004 - Working Cash Fund
• Adopted Tax Levy Resolution, 2004 - Fire Prevention and Safety Purposes
• Approved Certificate of Compliance with the Truth in Taxation Act
• Adopted Resolution Allocating Tax Levy to Individual Funds of the District-Property Tax Extension Limitation Law
• Approved the list of bills as presented, the Fund Reconciliation Report, the summary financial reports, and the payroll in the amount of $2,050,047.53
