A SYNOPSIS OF WHAT HAPPENED AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT 123 BOARD OF EDUCATION.
The closed session convened at 7:00 p.m. Open session was
held in the Training Center and called to order at 7:40 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance
was said.
Special Presentation - Hometown Construction Project
- Summer 2005
Andrew McCall, Architect
Andrew McCall outlined the plans for the addition and remodeling
project at Hometown School for summer 2005. Plans include the construction of
a new multi-purpose room, additional classroom and storage space, relocation
of the Kindergarten classrooms, moving the Library to the Kindergarten pod,
a redesigned front entrance, and a new roof.
Special Presentation - McGugan Junior High School Improvement
Plan
Andrea Anderson, Principal
Andrea Anderson presented a comprehensive School Improvement Plan
for McGugan Junior High for the 2004-2005 school year. The report included information,
such as longitudinal demographics, enrollment figures, mobility rates, school
characteristics, educator data, state assessment, and local assessment data.
She explained why McGugan failed to meet AYP (subgroup - students with disabilities)
and outlined the actions plans relevant to No Child Left Behind legislation.

THE BOARD TOOK THE FOLLOWING ACTION:
- Approved the minutes of December 13, 2004
- Approved the closed session minutes of December 13, 2004
- Authorized that the closed session minutes of May 24, 2004
and August 23, 2004 remain closed
- Approved employment of certified personnel, 2004-2005 school
year, of Amanda Tunstall, Music Teacher at Covington School, and Warda Yayed,
TPI Teacher at McGugan Junior High and Kolmar School
- Approved resignation of Susan Waller, Instructional Aide at
Ho ½metown School
- Approved bid meeting specifications for furniture for the new
Oak Lawn Hometown Middle School in the amount of $548,265.20
- Approved rental of available classrooms at Kolmar School for
the A.E.R.O. Special Education Cooperative 2005 Summer School Program
- Approved lease with South Side Baptist for a portion of McGugan
School from July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2010
- Approved increase in petty cash from $100 to $200
- Approved the list of bills as presented, the Fund Reconciliation
Report, the summary financial reports, and the payroll in the amount of $3,530,102.66
The meeting was adjourned at 9:25 p.m.

on Monday, February 28, 2005, at the Administration Center, 4201 West 93rd Street,
Oak Lawn, Illinois.
