A SYNOPSIS OF WHAT HAPPENED AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT 123 BOARD OF EDUCATION.
The closed session convened at 7:00 p.m. The open meeting was held at the Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School (OLHMS) Cafetorium and called to order at 7:30 p.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was said.
THE BOARD HEARD FROM THE ADMINISTRATION REGARDING:
- Buildings and Grounds report
- This was the last board meeting for Robert Kolb before his retirement. He thanked the Board of Education for the privilege and pleasure of serving as the chief business official of School District 123 for the last ten years.
- Five-Year Financial Planning Forecast -PMA Financial Network, Inc. (PMA)
- Educational Foundation Golf Outing - Wed. June 28, 2006
- Full-Day Kindergarten program
- Math Task Force - preK - 8
- Literacy Task Force - preK - 8

- ”Ambassador of Excellence”/Recognition of Service - Julie McGann received the Nina & Kenneth Allen Teaching Excellence Award for 2006.

Resignation - Michael Keane
Due to a career change, Mr. Michael Keane announced his resignation as a board member, effective August 28, 2006. He commented that it has been a tremendous honor to serve on the board. It was a fantastic experience that gave him the opportunity to work with some terrific people. He was presented with an ”Ambassador of Excellence” award and an engraved clock.
A Public Hearing was conducted on the amended 2005-06 budget.
A Public Hearing was conducted for the Transfer of monies from the Transportation
Fund to the Education Fund and to the Operations and Maintenance Fund.
THE BOARD TOOK THE FOLLOWING ACTION:
- Certified Personnel -Rehires
1. Braden, Maria - 2nd Grade Teacher at Kolmar School
2. Brenza, Joan - Kindergarten teacher at Sward School
3. Isenmann, Marie - Part-time (.50) Science Teacher at the Science Center
- Approved the employment of educational support personnel, 2006-07
Lagioia, Tammie - Media Aide at Kolmar School
Mangan, Denise - Reclassified as Teacher Aide at Kolmar School in the EC
program (.5) and in the Blended Early Learning program (.5)
- Approved the addendum to the Superintendent’s contract, 06-07 thru 09-10
- Adopted the Student Discipline Policy Handbook, 2006-2007
- Approved the Generic Resolutions for 2005 PTAB (tax) matters
- Approved the membership in the Comprehensive Liability Insurance Cooperative (CLIC) for FY06/07
- Approved the Workers' Compensation coverage for FY06/07
- Adopted resolution ascertaining the State of Illinois prevailing wage rate
- Adopted resolution to abate a portion ($500,000) of the working Cash Fund to the Education Fund effective June 30, 2006
- Adopted resolution authorizing transfer of monies from the Transportation Fund to the Education Fund ($300,000) and to the Operations & Maintenance Fund ($100,000)
- Adopted resolution authorizing transfer of accumulated interest earnings ($350,000) from the Bond & Interest Fund to the Education Fund
- Approved addendum to the Fox College lease
- Approved the amended 2005-2006 budget
- Approved the Unemployment Cost Management Service Agreement with TALX Employer Services
- Approved the list of bills as presented, the Fund Reconciliation Report,the summary financial reports, and the payroll for the following amounts: $5,937,688.35
The meeting was adjourned at 8:03 p.m.
