A SYNOPSIS OF WHAT HAPPENED AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT 123 BOARD OF EDUCATION.
The closed session convened at 7:15 p.m. The open meeting was held at the District Office and called to order at 7:30 p.m.
Special Presentation - Ambassadors for Excellence
The Board and Administration recognized eight middle school science students and Lois Bruno for their participation in the Illinois Benedictine University seminar Summer Science Sleuths.
Board Vacancy
The Board approved the appointment of Rick Smith as school board member to fill Michael Keane’s unexpired term of office. Mary Grana was appointed vice president. Discussion and adoption of the tentative 2006-2007 budget occurred. A Public Hearing was conducted for a waiver permitting Lincoln’s Birthday to be a school attendance day.

THE BOARD TOOK THE FOLLOWING ACTION:
- Approved the minutes of June 26, 2006
- Approved the closed session minutes of June 26, 2006
- Authorized select closed session minutes be released to the public and some to remain closed
- Approved the resignations of Michelle Altes-Kirby, Diane Chathas, Michele Clark, Jacqueline Erazmus, Lily Moy Geraghty, Kerrie Helbling, Mary Piet, Doreen Skelly, John Vertucci, and Heather White
- Approved the employment of certified personnel, 2006-07
