A SYNOPSIS OF WHAT HAPPENED AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
OAK LAWN-HOMETOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT 123 BOARD OF EDUCATION.
The open meeting was held at the Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School (OLHMS) Cafetorium and called to order at 7:30 p.m.
THE BOARD HEARD FROM THE ADMINISTRATION REGARDING:
Mrs. Calabrese delivered a power point presentation that outlined the 2006-2007 budget. A Public Hearing was conducted on the 2006-2007 budget.
- Honeywell Building Solutions service agreement
- Intergovernmental Agreement with the Village of Oak Lawn
- Investigation into two "new" areas of concern regarding serious traffic safety hazards
- Buildings and Grounds Report
- Illinois Early Learning Standards for kindergarten
- School improvement half-day staff matrix for 9/25/06. The next school improvement half-day is scheduled for 10/23/06.
- NCTM Conference in Chicago - Lori Gloodt and Sheila Lettiere presented a workshop entitled Focusing on Assessment through a Wide Angle Lens.
- Staffing Plan update
- Teacher Lane Changes (24)
- District 123 partnership with Oak Lawn Children's Museum - new Financial Literacy program to help teach students the value of money at an early age and the first annual Penny Drive
- Board Policy Manual revision process - The draft Policy Manual will be available for review at the District Office for the next month. Adoption of the PolicyManual is scheduled for the 10/23/06 board meeting.
- IASA-South Cook Legislative breakfast meeting - Saturday 9/16/06
- Oak Lawn Park District Meeting - intramural partnership with District 123
- Website Development - interviews are ongoing with companies that can provide this service
- District 123 updated service plan for private school children with disabilities
- Honeywell Instant Alert for Schools - The administration proposed a new communication system that provides emergency and routine communications to parents and staff.
THE BOARD TOOK THE FOLLOWING ACTION:
- Approved the minutes of August 28, 2006
- Approved the closed session minutes of August 28, 2006
- Approved the employment of educational support personnel, 2006-07

- Adopted the 2006-2007 budget
- Approved 2006-2007 Application for Recognition of Schools
- Approved the Honeywell Building Solutions service agreement in the amount of $47,976
- Approved the Intergovernmental Agreement with the Village of Oak Lawn(Residency/Truancy liaison support)
- Approved the list of bills as presented, the Fund Reconciliation Report, the summary financial reports, and the payroll in the amount of $2,610,716.89
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
