From the Principal

Welcome to the website of Covington Elementary School! Here it is hoped that you will find us to be a child-centered place full of opportunity and expectation. Our children are not only successful, they are happy and engaged.

The staff of Covington School requires and expects that its students will become strong readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and historians. We also strongly encourage our children to pursue their artistic and musical talents, as well as to be highly active physically. These expectations and encouragements come with the understanding that all students learn in different ways and at different rates. Our curriculum embraces differentiated instruction so that our teachers can work with students to take them from their starting point, to the heights of their abilities during each academic year.

Our educational program encompasses the classroom, the playground, the non-school environment, and the community. We help our children learn lessons that apply both to the classroom and to the world in which we live. We have no interest in making our program “look good.” We only have interest in ensuring that our program prepares our children for the next stage in their lives. This preparation is vital to allowing them the opportunity to make a wide variety of decisions in middle school, high school, and after high school that will affect the rest of their lives.

We ask that you take a few moments to go through the various links to the Covington School website, as well as the District 123 website. You will find a wealth of information that will explain and demonstrate what we all do to ensure that our children find success and are prepared to follow their dreams. Should any questions arise throughout your visit, please do not hesitate to contact the school via e-mail or telephone. We eagerly await the opportunity to serve you.
