Social Work
Social Work (Early Childhood – Grade 8)
The School Social Worker will assist in providing a safe educational environment for all students and school personnel. Students are referred for social work services through various avenues when social/emotional concerns are impacting their educational performance. Referrals can be made through PST, parent(s), teachers, and students themselves. When services are requested, the social worker completes an assessment to determine whether school social work services are appropriate. The School Social Worker will work with students, parents, staff, and community to provide a complete and coordinated network of support services. The social worker will provide individual, group and consultative services. The social worker will also provide positive outreach to parents to promote and sustain student educational success. This may involve making home visits and conducting parent support groups to address factors impacting school success. The social worker is also the district’s liaison to community resources for social and mental health services.
