District 123 Policies Regarding Staff Web Page Creation:

Documented in our ACCEPTABLE USE OF DISTRICT 123 COMPUTERS AND USE OF DISTRICT MEANS OF ACCESS TO THE INTERNET under Content Guidelines it states:

Students and personnel shall not load onto the network or Internet any student work, student communications, student images or any personally identifiable information about students.....

If student work is loaded onto the network without password protection, no personally identifiable information such as "first name and last initial" should be included in the student work.  Instead, the student should use a pseudonym.

No text, image, movie or sound that contains pornography, profanity or obscenity will be allowed.

All resources used in a student's work should be properly cited, as with any research plagiarism is not acceptable.

NO pictures of students or student names can be inserted on your web page.  Instead of students names, use a pseudonym.

If you post student work, make sure no name or personally identifiable information is on the work.  Give each student a number or letter if you want them to be able to identify their work.  Keep parents updated when you are posting anything... inform the parents through a newsletter, memo or whatever fits your form of communication.

Checklist for Completed Web Pages

• Cite all graphics that have been used on your web page (sites need to state that they are FREE):
• Graphics courtesy of....
• Delete graphic sites that are not being used
• You need to cite resources for any information that you use on your web page:  EACH WEB PAGE HAS TO HAVE A LIST OF RESOURCES.

• Make sure documents are named correctly .htm .jpg or .gif  (no spaces, all lowercase and no dots(periods), besides for the ending .htm .jpg or .gif)

• In browser (Navigator) mode- test all links and make sure they work.

• Did you add background color or a background graphic? (optional)

• Spell Check:  Tools menu and drag to Check Spelling...

• Make sure all your graphics are located in (one) folder.

• Make sure NO student pictures or names are on your page

• When finished have your building tech drag your folder to the Technology shared folder on your building hard drive, so it can be uploaded to the District website.
