THE KOLMAR AVENUE SCHOOL Coyote Connection

Staff Appreciation!

We have had a fantastic week celebrating the work of our teachers
and support staff. We would like to thank Kolmar’s parents, PTA, and students for making this week special and
memorable!

Education Foundation:

We are raffling a basket filled with an array of Kolmar goods and certificates
(Coyote zip-up sweatshirt, Coyote coffee mug, Coyote pen, Coyote magnet, Kolmarlanyard, reserved parking and seating at Kolmar concerts, and much more!) All proceeds will be donated to the D123’s Education Foundation. If you would like to purchase raffle tickets you may do so in our main office. The winner will be announced during the Foundation Golf Outing on June 14th at the Stony Creek Golf Course.

Kindergarten Orientation:

Kolmar’s Kindergarten New Parent Orientation will take place on Monday, May 14th in our school library from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. This orientation is an opportunity for our teachers to introduce the District 123 kindergarten curriculum, activities, and programs specifically designed to foster success for your child. Parents will have an opportunity to tour the school and see the kindergarten
classrooms (Adults only please). If you cannot attend our orientation, additional resource packets will be available in our main office.

Registration Packets:

Please return your child’s registration forms and fees by June 1st to receive a $15.00 discount. Classroom assignments and bus information will be available on August 17th through HomeLogic@www.D123.org. All fees are due by August 2nd in order to avoid a $30.00 late fee. If you have any questions please contact our
main office at 708-422-1800.

Arbor Lunch Prices:

Beginning next school year, lunch prices will increase slightly. The increases are required to maintain compliance under Federal law.  More information is available at www.isbe.net/nutrition/htmls/hunger_free.htm

Campbell’s Labels:

For more than 38 years, Labels for Education has been awarding free educational equipment to schools in exchange for proofs of purchase from the Campbell family of brands. Walking Dogs to School:

Please remember that dogs are not permitted on school grounds during arrival and dismissal.  We here at Kolmar (Home of the Coyotes!) love our canine friends, but we want to keep all of our children safe and it is impossible to predict how pets will react to large groups of energetic children.

Netbook Purchase Option:

The district will begin a netbook purchase option on January 23^rd for children in grades 5-8. Those who participate will have the opportunity to take the netbook home after school, on weekends, and over selected breaks.  The student will receive a carrying case and an additional charger for home.

Those who do not participate will still receive access to a netbook during the  school day, however, the devise will not be able to be sent home.

To participate, parents must complete the “Purchase Agreement” and return it to the office along with an initial payment of $65.00.  Forms are available in the office or on our district website at http://www.d123.org/technology/Parent-Purchase-Program.cfm .
