Title: As Easy as Pie!
Subject: Math
Grade Level: 3-5
Overview: Students will conduct a survey on their favorite fast food restaurants. The results will be plotted on a spreadsheet and made into a pie chart. This lesson may be used while teaching probability, graphing, and percentages.
Objectives: Students will analyze data and share results through the making of a pie graph.
Background: Teacher must know how to run spreadsheet and graph program on Apple Works before lesson
Resources and Materials: Apple Works (Spreadsheet program)

Activities:
1. Survey the class and decide on the top five or six fast food
restaurants. Then take a poll on which is their most favorite.
2. Have the students tally the information, so they can place it on the
spreadsheet
3. In Lab plot the information on spreadsheet or go to web site found
above--click on start making graphs
4. Make a pie graph with a title and percents.
