Title: Caudill Booktalk: A Digital Video Presentation
Subject: Reading
Grade Level: 6-7

This plan was created by Kathy Spedale (Media Specialist). Sarah Schroeder from Oak Lawn Public Library also stars and booktalks in this video presentation.

Curriculum Objectives:
Students will choose a book for recreational or assigned reading using suggestions from various sources including a booktalk.

Activity:
Media Specialist and others read and booktalk selected books, and videotape the presentation for summer reading promotion.

The Media Specialist will download and digitize the recording adding audio and other media to enhance the booktalk presentation.

The final product will be presented to many Language Arts classes to promote specialized or summer reading.

Resources:
Books (Caudill Books or whatever books you want to highlight).
Digital Video Camera
iMovie software
LCD Projector

End Product:
A sleek digital video production of the best books you have to share with students.

Variation: This could work with graduating 8th graders recommendations to younger students, various local citizens that don’t have the time to visit the school, career days with workers actually on the job. The possibilities are endless!
