Title: Composer Research
Subject: Music/History Appreciation with an emphasis on multiple source information gathering.
Grade Level: 8

Curriculum Objectives:
The students will use various sources to gather information. They will complete a poster as a visual aide to complement a presentation about an assigned composer.

Activity:
Using book, specialized encyclopedias, Nettrekker, and Web sites, students will gather information about their composers.

Questions will be prewritten, and groups will be given a composer to investigate. Questions will consist of composers family, education, influences, etc.

Students will spend 3 days in the library using various sources to complete the poster and script for the group presentation. Students may use pictures, depicting the composer’s life and works. These pictures and representative visuals may be gathered from online or book sources.
