Title: Checking out Ancient China
Subject:
Social Studies
Grade Level: 6

Overview:
Students will develop a  better understanding of life during ancient times in China through myths and challenges.

Purpose:
To help students learn through exploration. Different topics of interest can be navigated through reading myths and playing games .  All avenues relating to ancient China. 

Resources and Materials:
Social Studies text: Ancient Civilizations;   Chapter 6.

 Activities:
1. During Center activities students will access the website, “The British Museum”.
2. Students will choose a topic from the following choices: 
Crafts and Artisans
Geography
Time
Tombs and Ancestors
Writing
3. After choosing a topic students will read a brief summary of the topic. 
4.
Students will then read the myth or story that accompanies the topic. 
5. Finally the student will be ready to play the Challenge game.

 Evaluation:
Students will  be required to fill out an exit slip explaining what links they choose and why. They will then list three things they learned from the site.
