 Title: Mystery Mania
Subject: Reading
Grade Level: 4

Overview: Students read short stories and try and solve the mystery.

Purpose: To allow students to further develop deductive reasoning skills, focusing on details, and written clues.

 Resources and Materials: Invitation to Literacy: Quest, "Unwrapping Ancient Mysteries"

Activities: 
1. Students have five different links to choose from:
Solve - it
Quick - solve
Chiller
Magic trick
Mysteries by kids
2. After choosing a link, students then proceed to read the mystery and choose a suspect at the end of the story. If they have some trouble choosing a suspect they may ask for a clue.

Evaluation:  Teacher observation of score at end of game.  This is a great activity for a differentiation lesson as students can work at their own level and progress at their own speed.
