The District Family Math Nights have been an exciting night for the district Kindergarten and 1st grade families! Parents discover ways to support math learning at home, make and play games, and learn activities that they can continue to use with children at home. There are even fun math prize giveaways!

Participants play a number sequencing game called "Treasure Hunt," receive a five frame memory game, and make their very own bead string. They learn about the district standards-based math progress report and about how important it is to build early numeracy skills with our young students. Everyone is treated to a "Number Story Theater" where our young actors are transformed into characters or objects. They even create everyday math situations of their own on our Math Blog. Math is really all around us! These stories can be viewed at http://www.d123.org/curriculum/blog/6959. A big thank you is extended to the District 123 Ed Foundation for providing the grant funds necessary to make these nights possible!

The upcoming Kindergarten and 1st grade district math nights are: Covington 10/27, and Hannum 11/10.
