D.A.R.E. Dance
Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) America is an after school activity which focuses on fighting drugs and violence in our school and community. D.A.R.E. has been a part of the Oak Lawn community for nearly seven years. Students learn the importance of being involved in extra curricular activities, as well as expression through movement.
Participants meet weekly over a period of 17 weeks. During this time, they will learn a dance routine taught by staff members of Culture Shock. The D.A.R.E. dancer working with OLHMS specializes in a variety of dance styles such as jazz, hip hop, and modern. Students are taught a routine and at the end of the 17 weeks, will perform for the entire sixth grade class.
Anyone who is interested should download the application and submit to their advisory teacher no later than Friday, October 21st. Classes will be held on Wednesday, and will begin on November 2nd. Space is limited to 25 students. If more apply, students will be selected based on a lottery drawing.
