Volleyball

 

Volley - the flight of the ball before striking the ground

 

Overhand pass-When a receiver passes the ball with her hands over her head. A set is a type of overhand pass, but a serve can be received with an overhand pass as well.

 

Forearm pass/bump pass/ dig-A skill in volleyball in which the ball is propelled by the forearms.

 

Endurance- The body's ability to perform an activity for an extended period of time without tiring.

 

Assist-A set or bump set that leads to a successful attack.

 

Basketball

 

Agility- Refers to the body’s ability to change position rapidly and accurately while moving in space. 

 

Free throw- an unguarded shot at the basket from the free-throw line given for a foul.

 

Dribble-To dribble in basketball terms is to bounce the ball up and down with your hand. You can bounce the ball with either hand with your fingertips or the palm of your hand.

 

Pass- advancing the ball to teammate.  The ball is held between the finger pads, with the thumbs meeting at the back of the ball. The ball is held against the chest with the elbows extending outward. The ball is then thrown in a straight line to the receiver. This is one of the most commonly used passes know as the chest pass. 

 

Shoot- The act of throwing the basketball toward the hoop.
