boe vacancy

Roche After 12 years of service on the Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Board of Education, Vice President Ms. Theresa Roche has officially announced her resignation. Ms. Roche was elected to the Board of Education in April 2009 and is in her fourth term serving the students and families of the Oak Lawn and Hometown communities.

Ms. Roche said in her letter of resignation that she has not had a child in the district for six years and believes it is a good time to introduce a new voice to the experienced, well-functioning, and welcoming board.

“Serving on the school board has been, and will continue to be, one of the things I am most proud of during my lifetime. I take pride in the work we have accomplished and the manner in which we have done the work. Serving with this board, and those who have already moved on, has been an honor and a privilege.” -Theresa Roche

“Theresa is a cherished colleague who leaves a legacy of service that is the embodiment of commitment to community which is a foundation of the vision for our district. Her dedication to honoring our staff, to keeping kids’ best interests as the beacon for our work, and to fastidiously holding to principles of good governance, transparency, and fiduciary responsibility are an inspiration to us all. We owe her a debt of gratitude for her contributions.” -Brian Nichols, District 123 Board President.

“Theresa has been an engaged board member, who always puts students first. The District will miss her presence and leadership on the Board of Education and in District 123.” -Paul Enderle, District 123 Superintendent
