Preschoolers Think Inside the Box!

Preschoolers Think Inside the Box!

Ms. Jamie, Ms. Mansour and Ms. Martinez’s classrooms dove into an exciting new investigation all about BOXES! Students are discovering that boxes come in all shapes and sizes and can be used for endless learning and creativity.

As part of the study, students went on a nature walk to collect pinecones, sticks, and leaves, storing their findings in boxes as they explored the world around them. They also turned math into a hands-on adventure by measuring their classmates using boxes, making predictions and comparing “how many boxes tall” each person might be! They even created their own cell phones out of boxes, equipped with ringers and all!

Families joined in the fun by creating special “All About Me” boxes, filled with items that represent the student’s interests and personality. These projects helped students proudly share more about themselves while building connections with classmates and practice their public speaking skills as they presented to the class.

During center time, students continue to explore the possibilities of boxes as they build, stack, sort, and compare to learn about positional words, size, and volume. Whether they’re constructing towers or discovering what fits inside, our young learners are thinking critically, collaborating, and having fun every step of the way!
