Illinois 5Essentials Survey

Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 Administers the Fourteenth Illinois 5Essentials Survey

Once again, Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 will participate in the 14th annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey of school climate and learning conditions, administered on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). This survey provides a platform for students, teachers, and parents to share feedback that helps us strengthen the day-to-day experiences that matter most, including feeling safe, feeling welcomed, and being part of a school community where your voice matters.

The survey will be administered to families and teachers from February 3 through March 13, 2026, and to students (Grades 4-8) from February 20 through March 13, 2026. The results provide schools with valuable insight into our learning environment and help guide our continuous improvement efforts.

The Illinois 5Essentials Survey provides a comprehensive picture of a school’s organizational culture through five indicators critical for school success:

  • Effective Leaders
  • Collaborative Teachers
  • Involved Families
  • Supportive Environment
  • Ambitious Instruction

Survey results will be included in the 2026 Illinois State Report Card for your child’s school. Participation is anonymous. The identities of students, staff, and parents will be kept private, and responses will not be associated with any individual. We also want families to feel comfortable sharing feedback, knowing it helps us improve how we communicate, how we partner with families, and how we ensure our schools and spaces are ready for learning.
