PaCE Framework

The Illinois PaCE Framework was developed to provide guidance to students, families, and educators on what types of experiences and information a student should have in order to make the most informed decisions about College and Career planning, beginning in Grade 6 through high school. The framework is organized around: career exploration and development; postsecondary education exploration, preparation, and selection; and financial aid and literacy. Our Middle School offers Financial Literacy as one of its Encore courses. Additionally, District 123 has strong partnerships with area high schools. OLHMS hosts a High School Fair each year where public and private schools attend to provide students with an opportunity to learn about their academic offerings and career pathways. OLHMS also utilizes Xello, a college and career readiness program to help students navigate and support career development. OLHMS students complete a career interest inventory, explore career matchmaking opportunities, and engage in future planning and goal setting.

The National PTA has worked with teachers, parents and education experts to develop a set of Parents’ Guide to Student Success that provide an overview for grades K-8 English language arts/literacy and mathematics. The guides provide clear, consistent expectations for what students should be learning at each grade in order to be prepared for college and career.
