A Short Month with a Big Impact

A Short Month with a Big Impact

If you blinked, February may have come and gone, but not without leaving a big impression at the ELC. Throughout this short month, our community came together in meaningful ways to celebrate belonging, connection, and flexibility, creating moments that mattered to students, families, and staff alike.

Dress-up days set the tone for unity and fun. To recognize Heart Health Month, we proudly wore red and decorated hearts, filling the building with color and care. In celebration of the Lunar New Year, students thoughtfully created lanterns, while staff received red envelopes containing small gifts symbolizing good fortune, happiness, and positive energy. February also opened our doors to families during Friendship Day, where laughter, shared snacks, crafts, and quality time strengthened the bonds that make the ELC so special.

Kindness was everywhere. Kindness Cups overflowed as students shared ideas about how to be kind to others. Staff were celebrated through Roars of Recognition and the ever-popular Woot Woot Wagon, which quite literally filled cups and lifted spirits. And of course, no one could resist a good hug, especially when it came from Ms. Liliana!

Energy and imagination filled the West Wing as our own 2026 Olympic Games kicked off, complete with cheering spectators and proud participants. We were also thrilled to welcome furry visitors from Love on a Leash, creating calm, cuddly, and magical moments that brought smiles to every face.

In honor of Black History Month, students explored stories and projects of influential leaders such as Garrett Morgan, inventor of the streetlight, and Tyree Guyton, an environmental artist. Classrooms came alive with rhythmic music inspired by Black culture, thoughtful conversations, and vibrant outfits reflecting the colors of the Pan-African flag.

February may have been short, but its impact was anything but. From celebrations and learning to kindness and community, the ELC wrapped up the month full of unity and pride.
