Clubs & Activities
Covington School offers a number of extracurricular activities for students to expand their learning and enhance their level of social awareness and responsibility. Available activities may change from time to time as the interests of our students change. Students and parents should be on the lookout for extracurricular opportunities as they appear in announcements and information sent home from school. The Covington School website contains more information regarding these activities. Students are not permitted to attend any extracurricular activity if they were not in school attendance on the day of the activity. In addition, any student whose conduct is unacceptable during the normal school program can lose his or her privilege to attend these activities. Such a loss of privileges will be based upon the student’s actions as determined by the building principal.
Clubs offered this year include:
Chess and Games Club
Ultimate Sports Club
5th Grade Chess Club
Sponsored by: Mrs. Joan Boss
The chess club meets weekly to enjoy the game and practice their skills. Toward the end of the year, a tournament is conducted to allow students an opportunity to practice the game competitively.
4th and 5th Grade Chorus
Sponsored by: Ms. Barb Ellingsen
Chorus is made up of 4th and 5th grade students who love to sing. Chorus meets once per week during lunch recess for rehearsals. We sing a variety of quality choral pieces to help us develop our voices and learn to work together as a team. Chorus members sing at both the winter and spring concerts. Any student in the 4th or 5th grade may participate. Chorus is a commitment for the entire school year, so members are expected to attend rehearsals regularly.
The purpose of the Ultimate Sports Club is to give the students an opportunity to continue their love of sports and competition as well as being physically active for an extra hour during the week. Your child will be participating in a number of different sports for the purpose of enjoying the world of sports, teamwork and competition.
We will be playing sports such as: basketball, volleyball, kickball, wiffleball, soccer, floor hockey, team handball, etc.
