Ed Foundation Awards

This week the District 123 Education Foundation awarded three mini-grants to District staff members this week.

Kolmar School

Jana Oliver for her mini-grant titled, “Developing & Practicing Cultural Diversity for Our Early Learners” in the amount of $1,920.56.

The purpose of this project is to develop and reinforce cultural diversity awareness, acceptance, and respect in our preschool students, staff, and families. Through the use of literature, classroom materials, and professional development opportunities, we will develop culturally inclusive classrooms that promote and celebrate cultural differences. – Jana Oliver, Kolmar Social Worker

Hannum School

A mini-grant was awarded to Kristina Turek, Chris Roberts, Cassie Cipriani, Jennifer Grabarek, Kathy Burns, and Daniel Lazzarotto for “Hannum Kindness Rock Project” in the amount of $1,500.00.

The Kindness Rock Project is a global movement that the team is bringing to Hannum. Each child K-5 will get a rock and paint supplies and the students will decorate rocks with motivational words on them. The rocks will be placed outside our school for people to see as they pass. The hope is that someone finds a rock that “speaks” to them and is inspired by, and they take it home and have a better day. You never know what a kind word can do for someone, but we know that it won’t ever hurt. -Hannum Kindness Rock Team
