Hometown Title 1 Literacy Luau Night

Families play games

Families played games together.

On March 2, 2022 Hometown School offered a Title 1 funded event for families.  This event was focused on different literacy skills.  Families entered the luau and were sent on a rotation where they either played games where they needed to build words using digraphs (th, sh, ch, wh, ck), blends or CVC (consonant vowel consonant) words.  Families also enjoyed games like Boggle, Scrabble, Guess Who? and more! Teachers facilitated these stations wearing their Hawaiian shirts and leis!! Students and parents were given the chance to shop for books at our Scholastic Book Fair and prizes were given out to families.  This event funded by Title 1 offers parents a glimpse into their child's academic day and gave them ideas on how to incorporate literacy games into their homes.  Students and families had an amazing night! Thank you to the Hometown teachers for hosting such a wonderful event.  Ohana means "family," and at Hometown...we are all Ohana.
