Blast Off with Third Grade!

Space Cadets Reporting To Duty

These third graders are ready to BLAST off into outer space.

Teachers and students are so excited about the new TCI social studies program. Students are not just reading articles in their social studies books, these little third grade astronauts are being "launched" into space! Students were officially admitted into the NASA space program by cutting out their very own space badges, climbing aboard the Mr. Carson Space Shuttle and then blasting off into outer space.  However, when they entered space, the crew sadly lost their signal to the space station and they had to learn where they needed to land. By reading each chapter of the book, they got closer and closer to their landing point. First they had to find the hemisphere, then they had to find their continent, then the country, the state, and lastly the town (Pensacola, Florida). The students had a BLAST using each chapter to slowly get them closer and closer back down to Earth. Commander and Chief of the mission, Mr. Carson, would like to report, "We did safely make it back down to the ground!"
