CASE Coffee Cart Delivers Coffee and Smiles

Students deliver coffee and smiles to the classes at Hometown.

The hallways of Hometown were filled with the sweet aroma of coffee again this week ,as we welcomed the return of our famous CASE coffee cart.  This program was developed several years ago as a way to help our CASE students with life skills.  A “life skill” is a skill that is a necessary, every day skill that a person needs to get through life.  Life skills practiced with the Coffee Cart include following a recipe, sequencing steps in an activity, fulfilling an order, appropriate social skills, sharing, peer-peer work, basic number recognition, reading and comprehension, health and hygiene, and so much more.

A Google form is sent out to the staff once a week and they are given a multitude of choices: Pumpkin coffee, Hazelnut coffee, Tea, French Vanilla and more!  Next, choose your cream and sugar.  Then you wait for the sweet knock on your door.  When you open the door you are greeted by two of our adorable CASE kiddos and their amazing teacher, Mrs. Kayla Letizia.  Together the students work on eye contact, asking for the money, and sometimes even giving change.  The kids are so excited to be "working" as as barista...but the staff is just as excited to see these kiddos once a week.

The joy coffee brings doesn't compare to the smiles these kids deliver.  Thank you to our amazing CASE team for providing this opportunity for our students.
