PBIS Fall Festival Fun

PBIS Fall Festival Fun

Students from the Principal Advisory Committee developed the Scarecrow Relay Race Game. Students had to build a scarecrow using newspaper and clothing. It was so much fun!

It's hard to believe that we have completed the first trimester!  The weeks have flown by, and it's amazing to see how much these children have grown.  At the start of the year, our staff met as a collective team to discuss rules and behaviors that would be the expectations set for students.  There were hallway, lunchroom, bathroom, assembly and recess rules created with common verbage that would be used from preschool all the way to fifth grade.  Throughout the building, you can hear teachers reminding students to "Watch while walking" or be "Quick, quiet and clean" while using the bathroom.  The students have risen to the challenge, and we are so pleased with the positive behaviors being displayed.  Dr. Bencik and her Principal Advisory Committee (PAC) met to discuss a way to celebrate these positive behaviors.  The purpose of this group of students, two representatives from each grade level, is to provide a forum for communication/exchange of ideas, information, and concerns among students. They met and decided that the best way to end the fall trimester was by hosting a PBIS Fall Fest. Students would be able to participate in games and crafts the afternoon before Thanksgiving break.  Together, the PAC and Dr. Bencik brainstormed ideas about what this fest would look like.  Students were so excited to come up with games, and a group of students even developed the Build A Scarecrow game.  With the help of parent volunteers and other staff members, classrooms rotated throughout the building playing pumpkin bowling, Bingo, Pumpkin Walk, Pumpkin Relay Races and so much more.  You could hear the laughter echo throughout the hallway as children played, created and celebrated all of their hard work.

As we move into Trimester 2, we are so excited to see what amazing things are yet to come!
