Hometown's Roman Republic

Hometown's Roman Republic

Students in third grade are currently learning about the Ancient Roman Civilization during their CKLA unit.  Students started by learning about what life was like in Rome, both then and now.  After talking about Roman gods and godesses, students were exposed to the different roles of Roman citizens.  To increase student's background knowledge, students were asked to describe the differences between Roman citizens, and they role played making decisions as if they were part of the Roman Empire. Mrs. Sheedy and Ms. Cerullo acted as the emperors, and the students were given different roles such as consuls, senators, patricians, and plebeians.  Students enjoyed reenacting the different roles and working cooperatively.
