A perfect way to start the day!
Thursday morning was extra sweet at Hometown Elementary School as students, mothers, grandmothers and mother figures gathered for the school’s annual “Muffins with Misses” event. The heartwarming tradition brought families together for a cozy morning of breakfast, bonding, and celebration just ahead of Mother’s Day.
Organized by the Hometown Elementary Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the event featured a buffet of muffins, juice, and coffee. “This event is always a favorite,” said Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Sweetser. “It’s a simple but meaningful way for students to honor the women who support them every day, and for our school community to connect in a relaxed, joyful environment.”
The event welcomed all female role models, including mothers, grandmothers, aunts, older sisters, and family friends — anyone who plays a “misses” role in a child’s life.
Volunteers helped serve food and take photos at a themed photo booth, capturing sweet memories and providing keepsake snapshots.
“This is my last year attending,” said one fifth grader’s mom. “It’s a moment to slow down and just enjoy being with our kids. It’s bittersweet to enjoy this morning together. I am going to miss these events”
With a strong turnout and plenty of smiles, “Muffins with Misses” once again proved to be a beloved Hometown tradition — reminding everyone that sometimes, the best way to start the day is with a muffin and a hug.
