The school year is off to a fantastic start at Hometown! On August 20, we proudly welcomed back our 1st through 5th grade students, and the energy in the building was BUZZZZING. Smiling faces, new backpacks, and eager learners filled our hallways as teachers and staff greeted students with excitement. Classrooms came to life with warm morning greetings, team-building activities, and early lessons that will set the tone for a year of growth and discovery. The first few days were all about building community, reviewing routines, and helping students feel comfortable and confident as they returned to school. Our staff has done an incredible job of creating welcoming environments where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. Just a couple of days later, on August 22, we had the joy of welcoming our brand-new kindergarten students for their very first day of school. It was a milestone moment for both students and families, many of whom were stepping into Hometown Elementary for the first time. Teachers greeted our youngest learners with open arms and gentle encouragement, helping to ease first-day jitters with smiles, songs, stories, and hands-on activities. It was heartwarming to see our kindergarteners take those first big steps into their classrooms! The first week also gave us time to begin implementing our school-wide PBIS expectations, with all students learning what it means to be respectful, responsible, and safe in every area of our building—from the classroom to the lunchroom to the playground. These core values help guide student behavior and create a positive, supportive school culture where everyone can thrive. Teachers are also beginning to dive into their curriculum, building strong foundations in reading, math, writing, and social-emotional learning. We’re already seeing students rise to the challenge, ask great questions, and show excitement for new topics and classroom activities. As we look ahead, there is so much to be excited about: classroom projects, special events, family engagement nights, and opportunities for students to shine in and out of the classroom. We can’t wait to see the growth, joy, and learning that this year will bring. We’re so proud of our students, staff, and families for making it such a strong beginning.
