PBIS Bootcamp at Hometown

PBIS Bootcamp at Hometown

At the start of each school year, Hometown kicks things off with our PBIS Bootcamp—a fun and purposeful way to help all students learn what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe in every area of our school. During the first week, classes rotate through different stations around the building where teachers and staff model expectations and guide students in practicing positive behaviors. From how to walk quietly in the hallways, to lunchroom manners, bathroom routines, and playground safety, students are taught what respectful behavior looks like in real-life situations. Our goal is to make sure every student understands what is expected and feels confident in how to contribute to a positive school community.

The PBIS Bootcamp isn’t just about rules—it’s about building a culture where kindness, accountability, and safety are the norm. Teachers use games, role-play, and clear examples to make learning expectations engaging and meaningful. Students are encouraged to ask questions, participate in discussions, and reflect on why these behaviors matter. Staff also take time to recognize and celebrate students who demonstrate these traits, reinforcing the idea that making good choices is something to be proud of.

By the end of the week, students have a clear understanding of how to navigate school with respect and responsibility. The PBIS Bootcamp lays a strong foundation for the rest of the year, helping create a consistent, supportive environment where students can focus on learning and growing. It also allows us to come together as a community, united around shared values and a commitment to making Hometown a safe and welcoming place for all. We are so proud of how quickly our students embraced the expectations and are already showing what it means to be Hometown Strong!
