Honoring those who served our country.
On Thursday, November 6, Hometown Elementary proudly held its annual Veterans Day Assembly, a heartfelt event honoring the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The morning was filled with gratitude, pride, and emotion as community members and family members who are veterans were welcomed into the school to be recognized for their service.
The assembly began with students, staff, and guests gathering in the gym, which was beautifully decorated with red, white, and blue artwork created by the students. The program included patriotic songs performed by the school choir, student readings about the importance of Veterans Day, and a moment of silence to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Each veteran in attendance was recognized by name and invited to stand and be applauded for their service. The students’ respectful participation and heartfelt expressions of thanks made the morning incredibly meaningful.
Following the assembly, our honored guests were invited to enjoy a special breakfast with their student or students who invited them. The gymnasium was transformed into a warm and welcoming space, where veterans and their families could sit together, share stories, and celebrate this important occasion. It was a touching sight to see students proudly sitting beside their loved ones in uniform, smiling and enjoying their time together.
We extend our deepest thanks to the veterans who attended, our staff who helped plan the event, and our students who made the morning so special. At Hometown, we are proud to honor those who have served and to teach our students the importance of respect, gratitude, and community.
