A Day of Cheer at Hometown: Holiday Shop and Family Movie Night

Santa and his elf were ready to get some goodies at the holiday shop.

Hometown Elementary has been full of holiday spirit this month!   This week, students got to shop at our annual Holiday Shop, one of our most anticipated school events.   This shop gives students the chance to shop for gifts for family and friends during the school day. Organized by our incredible PTA, the Holiday Shop was filled with affordable gift options for all ages—from mugs and ornaments to toys and trinkets. Students loved the chance to choose something special for their loved ones, practicing both generosity and independence. With help from staff and parent volunteers, the shop ran smoothly, and students left with big smiles and hidden surprises tucked inside their bags.

The holiday fun didn’t stop there! That evening, families returned to school for our cozy and festive Family Movie Night. The gym was transformed into a Polar Express winter movie wonderland. Families brought pillows and snacks and settled in to watch a holiday favorite together. The sound of laughter and popcorn crunching filled the room as students relaxed with their families and classmates.

Family Movie Night was a wonderful way to bring our school community together during the holiday season. It provided a calm, joyful space for families to spend time together and enjoy the magic of the season. One parent shared, “We love events like this. It’s simple but so meaningful. The kids had a blast, and we got to connect with other families too.”

A big thank-you goes out to our PTA and staff volunteers who helped make both events possible.
