At Hometown Elementary, we’re proud to offer a dynamic Enrichment Program that provides advanced learning opportunities for students who show high academic ability or a strong interest in deeper thinking. Our program is thoughtfully led by Mrs. Gill for Reading Enrichment and Mrs. Finnegan for Math Enrichment, both of whom bring creativity, passion, and expertise to their roles.
In Reading Enrichment, Mrs. Gill works with students to explore higher-level texts, analyze complex ideas, and stretch their thinking through creative writing, group discussions, and project-based learning. Students may dive into challenging novels, practice persuasive writing, or engage in literature circles that spark thoughtful conversation and critical thinking.
In Math Enrichment, Mrs. Finnegan offers students opportunities to go beyond the standard curriculum with logic puzzles, problem-solving challenges, and hands-on math investigations. Students learn how to tackle multistep problems, explain their thinking, and apply math to real-world scenarios in engaging and meaningful ways.
Placement in the enrichment program is based on a combination of teacher recommendations, classroom performance, and assessment data. Students who consistently demonstrate mastery of grade-level skills and a strong interest in academic challenge may be invited to participate. Enrichment sessions are thoughtfully scheduled so students don’t miss key instruction in their core classrooms.
The enrichment program at Hometown encourages creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. As one student shared, “I like enrichment because I get to think outside the box and try new things.” We’re so thankful for Mrs. Gill and Mrs. Finnegan’s leadership and the enriching experiences they provide that help students thrive and grow.
