Friends are friends forever!
Last week, our school community came together to celebrate Friendship Week—five days filled with laughter, creativity, and meaningful reminders about the importance of kindness and connection. From festive classroom parties to colorful spirit days and a heartwarming service project, students had countless opportunities to strengthen friendships and spread positivity throughout the building.
One of the highlights of the week was our themed spirit days, which encouraged students and staff to show their enthusiasm while celebrating what makes each of us unique. Throughout the week, hallways were filled with team jerseys, wacky hats, and school spirit wear! Spirit days are always a favorite tradition because they build school pride! It was wonderful to see everyone—from our youngest to our oldest students—joining in the fun.
Another memorable part of Friendship Week was the “Fill a Cup” art project. This meaningful activity helped students reflect on how simple acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day. Each student decorated a cup and filled it with positive words, compliments, and encouraging messages for classmates. The project tied beautifully into our school’s social-emotional learning goals by teaching students that their words have power and that kindness is something we can choose every day. Walking through classrooms and seeing cups overflowing with thoughtful messages was a powerful reminder of how caring and compassionate our students truly are.
Of course, no Friendship Week would be complete without celebrations, and classroom parties brought an extra dose of joy. Students enjoyed playing games, making crafts, passing out Valentine cards, and special activities designed to celebrate friendship and gratitude. Laughter filled the rooms as classmates shared their Valentine cards and reflected on what it means to be a good friend. These moments not only made lasting memories but also strengthened the sense of belonging that is so important for student success and well-being.
Beyond the fun and festivities, Friendship Week served a deeper purpose. It provided intentional time for students to practice empathy, cooperation, and appreciation for others. Teachers incorporated discussions and lessons about kindness, inclusion, and respect, helping students understand that friendship is built through small, thoughtful actions each day. Whether it was inviting someone new to play, offering a compliment, or simply listening, students learned that being a good friend is one of the most important skills they can develop.
We are incredibly proud of how our students embraced the spirit of the week. Their excitement, creativity, and kindness made Friendship Week a true celebration of what makes our school such a special place. Thank you to our teachers, staff, and families for supporting these activities and helping create an environment where friendships flourish.
We look forward to continuing to build on these lessons all year long—because while Friendship Week may last only a few days, the values it celebrates can last a lifetime.
