Field Trip Fun for Everyone!

Field trip

First graders saw Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Second Grade went to Brookfield Zoo.

Field trips provide students with meaningful opportunities to connect classroom learning to real-world experiences. Whether exploring wildlife habitats or experiencing live theater, these educational adventures help spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and create memories that last far beyond the school day.

Our Hometown students recently enjoyed two exciting field trips this week that brought learning to life!

Second graders traveled to Brookfield Zoo for a day filled with discovery and exploration. Throughout the year, students have been learning about animals, habitats, life science, and informational texts in the classroom. Visiting the zoo gave students the opportunity to observe animals up close, make real-world connections to their science curriculum, and engage in meaningful conversations about conservation and the environment. Students eagerly explored exhibits featuring giraffes, big cats, primates, reptiles, and sea lions while practicing observation and discussion skills with their classmates.

First graders visited the Beverly Arts Center to enjoy a live production of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. This special experience connected directly to their literacy curriculum, as students have been studying fairy tales, story elements, characters, and sequencing. Watching the story performed on stage helped students deepen their understanding of storytelling while introducing many of them to the excitement of live theater for the very first time. Students loved seeing the familiar characters come to life through music, costumes, and acting.

These memorable experiences would not have been possible without the incredible support of our parent volunteers. Their time, energy, and enthusiasm helped ensure that students stayed safe, engaged, and excited throughout each trip. Having caring adults alongside our students made the day even more special and allowed students to fully enjoy every learning opportunity.

Field trips are an important extension of the classroom because they encourage curiosity, strengthen social skills, promote hands-on learning, and help students build connections between academic content and the world around them. We are so grateful to our teachers, staff, families, and volunteers for helping create these enriching experiences for our students!
