Who will come out on top?

Students at Hometown School are getting ready to travel the world through stories during our exciting International Fairy Tale Read-Aloud Contest!

Each grade level has received a special set of international fairy tale books to enjoy together in the classroom. Throughout the contest, teachers will read aloud featured stories from different cultures and countries, giving students the opportunity to explore new traditions, characters, and lessons from around the globe.

After each read-aloud round, students will vote for their favorite story by a show of hands. Teachers will then submit their class’s official vote, and the winning book from each round will advance to face a new challenger. The excitement will continue until one final fairy tale is crowned the overall champion on the last day of school!

Round 1 features a match-up between The Irish Cinderlad and The Golden Sandal. Future rounds will introduce more engaging international tales, including The Runaway WokLittle Red and the Very Hungry Lion, and The Three Little Tamales.

In addition to building excitement around reading, the contest encourages students to compare stories from different cultures, make predictions, share opinions, and celebrate the rich traditions found in fairy tales around the world.

A special bulletin board will keep students updated on each round’s winners as the competition continues. We can’t wait to see which fairy tale becomes our school’s favorite!
