Blankets of Hope

Mila and Mrs. Collura, Blankets of Hope Organizers

Mila, a member of Sward's Kindness Club, organized a delivery of 600 purple blankets from Blankets of Hope.  Blankets of Hope is an educational  nonprofit that helps students practice empathy & kindness in an impactful service-learning experience.  "The Blankets of Hope is founded by two brothers who wanted to help care for the homeless. Homeless people should be cared for too, and giving them blankets is a way to show we care." Mila stated.

It all began when Mrs. Collura, Kindness Club Sponsor reached out to Blankets of Hope and requested enough blankets for each Sward student to personalize.  All students Pre-K through 5th Grade wrote a letter expressing a positive message that was then bundled with a beautiful bow boxed and ready to be delivered to someone in need.

These decorated blankets were boxed and distributed to various local organizations. On April 27th, as a thank you for your help in making more than 600 homeless people feel cared for, the Kindness Club invited students and staff to wear purple. What a wonderful experience this has been for the entire Sward Community.  "I would like to have more blankets to help those in need and thank you to all of the Sward students for helping the kindness club. " Mila
