What Path Will You Take? Career Day Offers Exciting Choices for Sward Students

On Thursday, April 28th, Sward School held it's 3rd annual Career Day. Thankfully it was an in-person event this year which allowed parent and family volunteers to visit and share all about their exciting careers with our Sward Eagles. Two separate sessions were held, some volunteers presented their jobs to our PreK-2 students in the morning and our 3rd-5th grade students in the afternoon. Each session our special visitors provided students with information about what they do in their job, what education they needed in order to get their job, some special tools that are used in their job and how their jobs affect others.  All of the presenters did a phenomenal job sharing their passion for their careers with our students and probably opened some students eyes to new options they had never considered before. This year's Career Day was hugely successful and we can't wait until next year! Some of the careers that our students learned about included:

  • Realtor, Mr. Altenburg (parent of a Kindergartener and 2nd grader)

  • Youth Services Librarian, Ms. Welsh
  • Project Managers, Mr. Janiszewski & Mr. Reyes (parents of 1st graders)
  • Graphic Designer, Mrs. Stenger (former D123 student, niece of Ms. Abbott)
  • Information Technology, Mr. Fruhwirth (parent of 1st grader)
  • Music Educator, Mr. Bishop (parent of 1st & 5th graders)
  • Music Therapist, Ms. Paterno (former D123 student, niece of Ms. Abbott)
  • Outreach and Engagement Associate, Mr. Evans (parent of 2nd grader)
  • Pharmacist, Mrs. Reyes (parent of 1st grader)
