Sock-Tober

Students showing off their crazy socks.

Sward’s Student Council launched Sock-tober collecting socks to provide warmth to those in need. For 3 weeks, they challenged each classroom to donate socks to help the local homeless population.  Mrs. Katalinic stated, “Our goal was to collect 500 pairs of socks. We discussed if each student at Sward donated one pair we could easily reach our goal. However, the Sward community generously donated 853 pairs of socks. Just amazing!”  The socks were donated to Almost Home, a local Oak Lawn charity organization. "I am so proud of the Sward community for coming together to help those in need to provide warmth this upcoming winter season. Thank you to everyone who donated, we are so grateful." Mrs. Coennen Student Council Sponsor. As a reward for collecting 853 socks, Sward students were awarded crazy sock day. The students enjoyed showing off their socks.
