Wheat Could be Cuter than Preschool Bread Makers!

As part of their current Bread Study, the MWF afternoon Tuition Preschool class was able to benefit from the expertise of preschool parent and owner of local bakery, QuinnCakes by George, Mr. George Gaitan.  After reading fiction and non-fiction texts such as The Bread Pet by Kate DePalma, students were able to go through the process of making sourdough bread with Mr. Gaitan.

They enjoyed hands-on experience over three class periods with the ingredients, tools, and the science behind bread making.  The class even got to have their own Bread Pet in class!  Mr. Gaitan taught the preschoolers how important accurately measuring the ingredients is and the proper way to knead the dough.

The children and their families were able to sample the finished sourdough bread at their annual Harvest Feast, which also included cornbread muffins and pumpkin pie in a cup made by the students.

Thank you, Ms. Sharon for sharing this wonderful learning experience.
